4th November 2020 – (Hong Kong) In conjunction with International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), MTR will provide free rides for passengers who hold a registration card for persons with disabilities or an Octopus for persons with disabilities next Sunday (8th). Eligible persons with disabilities only need to use the relevant personal Octopus to get in and out of MTR stations, light rail stations or MTR buses as usual on the day, and fares will not be deducted from their Octopus Cards.
If there is no Octopus card, they can also show their registration cards to the customer service centre or information counter to request a valid one-way MTR ticket on the day. According to the MTR, the disabled can also go to any customer service centre or information station on the same day to obtain a one-way MTR ticket valid for the accompanying carer. As for taking the Light Rail or MTR, passengers only need to show the Disabled Registration Card or Disabled Octopus Card to the captain or staff to travel with the accompanying carer for free. The discount does not include the first-class fare for East Rail Line.
