20th January 2022 – (Hong Kong) In response to a large number of citizens leaving get off work early on Lunar New Year’s Eve on the 31st of this month, the MTR said today (20th) that train services will be increased in the afternoon and evening hours of the same day to facilitate the return of citizens to home before the New Year’s Day.
Due to the situation and the government’s tightening of social distancing measures, after assessing the demand, normal service hours will be maintained on New Year’s Eve this year, and overnight train services will not be provided. The MTR will increase the frequency of each rail line (except the Airport Express and Disney Line) before and after the rush hour on Lunar New Year’s Eve, adding a total of 270 train services and will closely monitor the situation during the New Year’s Eve and Lunar New Year holidays. If necessary, additional train services will be provided to meet the travel needs of passengers. In addition, passengers who hold MTR 2022 Year of the Tiger limited souvenir tickets can enjoy unlimited rides on local MTR services.
