Motorcyclist struck and pushed 25 metres in Tsuen Wan, car driver arrested for drink-driving

4th December 2023 – (Hong Kong) A motorcyclist was struck by a Toyota Estima private car and pushed approximately 25 metres down the road in Tsuen Wan. The incident occurred around 7pm today at the intersection near Shek Kuk House, off Shek Wai Kok Estate.

The motorcyclist was making a right turn on the road from Shek Wai Kok Estate when he was hit by the car. The force of the collision threw him onto the bonnet of the private car, propelling him about 25 metres forward before he fell onto the ground, injured. His motorcycle was pushed approximately 50 metres before it came to a halt. Locals witnessing the event promptly alerted the authorities.

Responding to the emergency call, paramedics rushed to the scene and found the motorcyclist semi-conscious. He was promptly transported to Princess Margaret Hospital for treatment.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers conducted a breathalyser test on the male driver of the private car. The test indicated that the driver failed to pass the alcohol breath test, leading to his arrest on suspicion of drink-driving. The driver was taken into custody for further investigation.

According to sources at the scene, the breathalyser test showed a reading of 130, nearly five times exceeding the legal limit of 22. This suggests a significant level of impairment and raises serious concerns about the driver’s decision to operate a vehicle in his condition.
