Mother of Tangmo, Thai actress who was allegedly murdered receives 30m baht as settlement not pursue legal recourse

26th June 2022 – (Bangkok) After her fall into the Chao Phraya River and subsequent drowning on the night of February 24th and the resulting social media drama over her death, the body of former actress Nida Patcharaveerapong, aka “Tangmo”, was cremated in May at the crematorium in the compound of the Rangsit Methodist Church in Pathum Thani province.

According to national police chief Suwat Jangyodsuk in Thailand, the death of TV actress Nida “Tangmo” Patcharaveerapong appears to be an accident based on the evidence. However, there was a new development in the incident recently, referring to the discovery that her body was abnormal, which proved that Tangmo was suspected of being abused before she passed away.

The case has now been reclassified as a murder case recently. Tangmo’s mother, Panida, had publicly stated earlier that she would no longer hold the tycoon who was on the same boat with Tangmo responsible. She agreed to receive 30 million baht (6.9 million Hong Kong dollars) as final settlement and acknowledged the tycoon as her godson. She also refused to pursue murder charge against the 5 people who were on the same boat. Her response was condemned by netizens.

Recently, there was news that pointed out that Tangmo’s mother may be someone else. In fact, Tangmo’s parents divorced when she was 3 years old. Her mother, Panida, only met her daughter Tangmo in recent years. Panida herself is a well-known actress, thus making their parent-child relationship questionable.

Panida once took out Tangmo’s birth certificate to prove their mother-daughter relationship, but Atchariya, a famous Thai detective found that Panida’s identity card number was not recorded in the birth certificate.
