2nd February 2023 – (Hong Kong) The Government launched the online platform of the Talents Service Unit (TSU) (www.hkengage.gov.hk) in December last year to attract talents from all over the world more proactively and aggressively. The online platform enables them to obtain information on the various talent admission schemes and submit applications more easily. The various talent admission schemes announced in the Policy Address this year, including the newly introduced Top Talent Pass Scheme, are open for application.

Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Chris Sun said during a radio programme today (2nd) that the number of applications exceeded expectations. The program has received more than 7,200 applications since the end of December last year, of which more than 5,700 have been processed, and more than 90% of them are eligible.

After being approved, they will come to Hong Kong to work or start a business within 6 months. He also said that development opportunities are also provided for overseas Hong Kong citizens returning to the cities. According to the authorities, about half of the approved applications are those who graduated from the top 100 universities in the world and have 3 or more years of work experience in the past 5 years. They believe that they can fill the talent gap in Hong Kong. The applicants with an annual salary of HK$2.5 million were the least. Sun believes that the number of applicants can reflect the attractiveness of Hong Kong to overseas talents, and the newly reopened border will also help increase the desire of talents to come to Hong Kong for development.
