27th November 2022 – (Hong Kong) The MTR Urban Lines Vision Train also named MTR CRRC Qingdao Sifang EMU and also known as Q-Train is a new rolling stock ordered by MTR Hong Kong in July 2015. They have begun to replace all of the aging Metro-Cammell EMU (DC) trains recently.
The Q Train started carrying passengers on the Kwun Tong Line today (27th). The first special train departed from Platform 2 of Choi Hung Station at 8.58am towards Tiu Keng Leng. More than a hundred railway fans arrived at MTR Choi Hung Station early in the morning to wait for the first train with many shouting “I’m really excited that the Q Train will be put into service”.
Some railway fans set off from Tuen Mun at 5am and arrived at Choi Hung Station before 7am. While waiting for the new train. At about 8.45am,the first Q Train entered Platform 2 of Choi Hung Station. A large number of railway fans were very excited and shouted "Open the door, open the door!". The doors of the train opened at 8.52am, and railway fans rushed on board, shouting "drive, drive". In the end, over 700 passengers were recorded on the first train.
Some railway fans who took the first train said that the train was more stable than expected. Among the six major upgrades, passengers felt that after switching to LED lights, it was brighter than the British-made “M Train” that has been running for 40 years. It means that the new car is quieter. Some railway fans said that although they do not want to give up the “M Train”, considering the aging of the trains or safety problems, changing trains is unavoidable.
