3rd October 2026 – (Hong Kong) A woman believed to be a visitor was photographed placing a wooden stool on a Mong Kok roadway and posing for pictures while a photographer crouched at the kerb, sparking condemnation from social media users who described the behaviour as reckless and inconsiderate. Images shared to a local Facebook group suggested the pair stepped into live traffic to “get the shot”, with the poster urging travellers to keep safety foremost and remain aware of their surroundings rather than becoming absorbed in taking pictures.

Commenters criticised the duo for disregarding their own safety and that of other road users, warning that a sudden stop by a driver could trigger a collision and that any crash would burden others with the consequences. Several noted that similar street‑photography stunts by tourists were becoming commonplace in the district and called for greater respect for basic road etiquette and public safety.

Legal observers pointed out that placing objects in a public place in a way that obstructs, inconveniences or endangers others may constitute an offence under section 4A of the Summary Offences Ordinance (Cap. 228), punishable by a fine or up to three months’ imprisonment, while pedestrians who negligently endanger their own or others’ safety may be liable to a fine under section 48 of the Road Traffic Ordinance (Cap. 374).
