Mong Kok law enforcement arrests 16 men and women, including wanted criminals, in anti-vice operation targeting drugs and illegal gambling


23rd September 2023 – (Hong Kong) Law enforcement department in Mong Kok district carried out a targeted crackdown last night, September 22. Two residential units within the area were subjected to surprise searches, resulting in the dismantling of an alleged illegal gambling den and a suspected drug den.

Following the investigation, a total of 10 men and 5 women, ranging in age from 31 to 65, were apprehended from the two locations. They are suspected of offenses including “operating a gambling establishment,” “gambling within a gambling establishment,” “trafficking dangerous drugs,” “operating a drug den,” and “consuming dangerous drugs.” The individuals have been detained for further investigation.

In addition to the raids, law enforcement personnel conducted inspections at 24 other establishments in the area. These included nightclubs, mahjong parlors, pool halls, gaming centers, and bars. During the operation, they successfully apprehended a 51-year-old man who was wanted for outstanding fines. He was also taken into custody for further questioning.
