Moderate 5.1 magnitude earthquake shakes Philippine Islands Region


3rd December 2023 – (Manila) The Philippine Islands Region experienced a moderate earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale, according to the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences. The seismic event occurred at 09:48:51 GMT, sending tremors throughout the region.

The epicentre of the earthquake was pinpointed at a latitude of 8.51 degrees north and a longitude of 127.02 degrees east, with a focal depth of 92.1 kilometres. Initial reports indicate that the earthquake originated from this location, causing varying degrees of shaking across the affected areas.
