Misunderstanding over covert photography in Central IFC mall ends in Mainland woman arrested for assaulting South Korean woman

3rd March 2024 – (Hong Kong) At 3.08pm yesterday, an incident at the International Finance Centre in Central escalated when a 39-year-old woman from Mainland China confronted a 34-year-old South Korean woman over a photography misunderstanding. The Mainland Chinese woman, suspecting she was being covertly photographed, approached the South Korean to enquire why she was being taken pictures of. The confrontation took a violent turn when the Mainlander, in a sudden outburst of emotion, struck the South Korean woman with her fist.

Law enforcement officers were promptly called to the scene and investigated the matter, resulting in the arrest of the Mainland Chinese woman on suspicion of ‘assault occasioning actual bodily harm’. Meanwhile, an ambulance was dispatched to provide medical attention to the South Korean victim, who sustained abrasions to her neck and hand.
