Minibus overturns in Tai Po after collision attempt to avoid pedestrian

20th May 2024 – (Hong Kong) In Tai Po, a minibus driver’s attempt to avoid a pedestrian led to a dramatic crash on Wun Yiu Road near Yee Tsui Villa, resulting in the vehicle overturning and emitting smoke. The incident occurred at precisely 9.24am, sparking immediate emergency responses.

According to eyewitness reports, the minibus was travelling down the slope when it allegedly struck a female pedestrian. In a swift reaction, the driver attempted to swerve, which led to the minibus losing control and subsequently flipping onto its side in the middle of the road.

Emergency services were quickly on the scene to assist. They helped the driver and a female passenger to safely exit the damaged vehicle. The passenger complained of back pain and was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Fortunately, both the minibus driver and the pedestrian involved in the initial collision were reported to be unharmed.
