19th May 2022 – (Hong Kong) A minibus driver was charged with 2 counts of theft after stealing 10 pairs of women’s underwear at Fu Ning Garden in Tseung Kwan O. The case was brought up for the first time at Kwun Tong Magistrates’ Courts this morning (19th), and the defendant pleaded guilty to all charges. The magistrate adjourned the case to 21st July for sentencing, during which time he obtained a probation report and a psychiatrist’s report for the defendant, and granted the defendant bail of HK$1,000.
The defendant Lam (38 years old, minibus driver) was charged with stealing 4 pairs of underwear worth HK$40 on 4th February, 2022 from outside a unit at Block 2, Fu Ning Garden, 25 Po Ning Road, New Territories, Hong Kong, and on the same day, he stole another 6 pairs of underwear worth HK$60. According to the case, the owner of the above-mentioned underwear hung the washed underwear, including 10 pairs of women’s underwear, on the bottom of the air conditioner outside the crime unit on the night of 31st January.
On the morning of 4th February, the victim found that the underwear was missing. After checking the CCTV footage, she found that a suspicious man had stolen the underwear and fled in the early morning of the same day, so he reported to the police. The Tseung Kwan O Police District Task Force conducted an ambush in the area of Po Ning Road on the afternoon of 10th February, and found the defendant to be suspicious and approached him for investigation. After being arrested, the defendant admitted to stealing the women’s underwear in this case under caution, and the police later seized 10 pieces of women’s underwear at the defendant’s residence.
