Miniature red hearts make surprise appearances in Tai O, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Sham Shui Po during final day of Chubby Hearts HK installation

Chubby Hearts

25th February 2024 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong’s cityscape has been adorned with a touch of romance and whimsy, as the Chubby Hearts Hong Kong installation bids farewell yesterday, after an 11-day showcase that charmed over 700,000 residents and tourists. Conceived by the renowned designer Anya Hindmarch and curated by the Hong Kong Design Centre, the installation’s final day features both the iconic giant red hearts and the engaging “little red hearts” pop-ups that have graced various locales, including the historic Hong Kong Clock Tower in Tsim Sha Tsui and the vibrant Apliu Street in Sham Shui Po.

Since Valentine’s Day, the Chubby Hearts have been a sensation across Hong Kong’s financial and central districts, culminating in a grand display at the Central Statute Square Gardens. As the exhibition draws to a close, the garden’s footfall mirrors that of any typical day, but the hearts have undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the city’s cultural calendar.
