Microsoft officially retires Internet Explorer

    15th June 2022 – (Sydney) Microsoft is officially retiring Internet Explorer this week after 26 years.

    On 15th June Microsoft’s classic internet browser Internet Explorer is shutting down for good.Internet Explorer was launched by Microsoft in August of 1995, and what came with essentially changed the world.

    Microsoft says their new browser, Microsoft Edge, will formally take Internet Explorer’s place.Microsoft explained the retirement of the browser in a blog post last year:”On 15th June, 2022, the Internet Explorer 11 desktop application will be retired, meaning it will go out of support. Afterwards, the Internet Explorer 11 desktop application will be disabled on specific versions of Windows 10.”It’s a plan seven years in the making, Microsoft Edge officially launched in 2015.
