18th May 2026 – (Los Angeles) Lionsgate’s Michael Jackson biographical drama Michael has climbed back to the summit of the North American box office, taking 26.1 million dollars in its fourth weekend in cinemas, according to figures released on Sunday by data firm Comscore. The film has now generated 282.8 million dollars in the United States and Canada, contributing to a worldwide total of 703.9 million dollars to date.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the production chronicles the life of the late pop star beyond his musical achievements, exploring his private struggles alongside recreations of landmark performances from the early years of his solo career.
Slipping to second place was 20th Century Studios’ The Devil Wears Prada 2, which brought in 18 million dollars in its third weekend. The comedy‑drama sequel has accumulated 175.9 million dollars at the domestic box office so far.
Completing the top three was Focus Features’ R‑rated horror release Obsession, which debuted with takings of 16.1 million dollars over its opening weekend.
