16th July 2025 – (Hong Kong) MGM China Holdings Ltd (2282) has clarified recent reports surrounding actor Jacky Heung, son of prominent Hong Kong film producer Charles Heung Wah-keung, who was alleged to have guaranteed a third-party loan that resulted in legal action.
The controversy began when Heung was accused of failing to fully repay a HK$2 million debt incurred at a Macau casino in December last year, leaving an outstanding balance of HK$1.4 million. MGM China subsequently filed a claim in the Hong Kong District Court to recover the remaining amount and accrued interest.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, 15th July, MGM China confirmed that the incident stemmed from Heung acting as a guarantor for a third party. Due to overdue payments, the company initiated legal proceedings to address the matter. MGM further stated that all outstanding amounts have now been fully repaid, and the associated legal processes have been concluded.
The statement read: “This matter involving Mr Jacky Heung originated from his provision of a credit guarantee for a third party. Following overdue payments, MGM took standard legal procedures to resolve the issue. All sums have since been cleared, and the related legal proceedings have been terminated.”
MGM China also emphasised that such matters are typically part of its routine business operations and administrative procedures, which do not require disclosure to the media. However, given the attention this case has attracted and the inconvenience caused to Heung, the company urged all parties to refrain from spreading inaccurate reports. MGM confirmed it would not issue further comments on the matter.
