Metal rod mishap causes temporary lane closure on West Kowloon Highway


19th June 2024 – (Hong Kong) A heavy-duty truck traveling along West Kowloon Highway towards the Western Harbour Crossing experienced a mishap today at 9.47am. The incident occurred near Olympic Station when a pile of metal rods fell onto the road from the truck. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but it led to the temporary closure of the left and middle lanes.

The Transport Department stated that due to the obstruction on the road, a section of West Kowloon Highway heading towards the Western Harbour Crossing near Olympic MTR Station had to be closed. The closure remained in effect until around noon when the lanes were reopened, allowing traffic congestion to gradually dissipate.
