24th October 2024 – (Shenzhen) The Meituan drone service officially launched its delivery route at the Futian Port today, marking the country’s first routine drone delivery route set within a port area. Customers can now receive their orders within as fast as 10 minutes at specified drop-off points, with the new route supporting order placement and pick-up via Hong Kong mobile numbers.

In collaboration with WeChat Pay HK, Meituan drones have introduced a model for remote ordering and payments in Hong Kong dollars. Hong Kong citizens travelling to or from the mainland can pre-order through the Meituan app or Meituan drone mini-program, selecting the “Meituan Futian Port Plaza Drone Delivery Locker” as their delivery address. Upon arrival at Futian Port, they can collect their goods from the smart delivery cabinet.

When placing orders in Hong Kong, users can also make payments through WeChat Pay HK, where the system automatically converts RMB transactions to HK dollars, offering zero transaction fees. Additionally, Meituan drones and WeChat Pay HK have jointly launched limited-time offers. After claiming coupons on the page, users can avail themselves of a discount of HK$8 on purchases over HK$20 when transacting with WeChat Pay HK.

Popular food brands like KFC, Heytea, andXiCha have already integrated drone delivery services. The intelligent delivery locker, located at Futian Port Plaza Gate 2, can be accessed by entering the last four digits of the mobile number.

Meituan advises Hong Kong and Macao mobile users to click on the “Orders” section at the bottom of the Meituan delivery mini-program to check order statuses. If it shows “Drone Order Accepted,” the order has been successfully placed for drone delivery. If it displays “Drone Arrival,” the goods have reached the delivery locker.
