Meetings on 17th and 18th of June on the extradition bill are cancelled by Legislative Council

14th June 2019 – (Hong Kong) Legislative Council “LegCo” issued a press statement at 6.41pm today to announce that no LegCo meetings will be held on 17th and 18th June to discuss the second reading of the extradition bill. It is unsure if Government has taken a softer stand on pushing the bill through.

Pro-establishment lawmakers have earlier expressed that they are in no rush to engage in a debate on it in view of the recent escalated tension between the Government and the people.

Before the protest, Legco president Andrew Leung Kwan-yuen mentioned that they would allocate 61 hours for debate of the extradition bill.
