10th March 2026 – (Hong Kong) The sudden cancellation of the opening performance of Taiwanese rock band Mayday’s 25th Anniversary Tour has left fans out of pocket and frustrated, with Consumer Council receiving 24 complaints involving over HK$63,000 as of Tuesday afternoon.
The largest single claim stands at HK$6,700, with affected concert-goers citing disrupted travel arrangements and difficulties rescheduling their plans. Of the complaints lodged, eight came from local fans while 16 were submitted by visitors from outside Hong Kong who had made special trips for the show.
Mayday had originally scheduled performances at the Kai Tak Main Stadium for 24th, 25th, 27th and 28th March, with ticket prices ranging from HK$555 to HK$1,855. However, in a surprise announcement on Monday, the organiser revealed on social media that an extra show would be added on 29th March —the band’s debut anniversary—to celebrate their 29th milestone, and that the 24th March opening night would be scrapped entirely.
The organiser explained the decision was made to “ensure all shows are presented at their best and allow fans to fully enjoy the special birthday moments,” confirming that ticket holders for the cancelled performance would be eligible for full refunds.
The Consumer Council has urged the organiser to consider alternative arrangements to minimise disruption and reminded consumers to retain all transaction records in case of disputes. It also highlighted that under the Trade Descriptions Ordinance, misleading business practices or improper conduct could result in fines of up to HK$500,000 and imprisonment for up to five years.
