6th November 2020 – (Hong Kong) At midnight on 8th August, a Mercedes car lost control on Magazine Gap Road in Mid-levels on Hong Kong Island near Rose Gardens. It crossed the opposite lane and hit the anti-collision barrier, and then lurched about 60 meters ahead before crashing into another traffic barrier. The right front of the car was severely damaged. Police officers rushed to the scene and found that the driver of the accident was local actor, Mat Yeung Ming (His real name is LAM MING LOK). He was drunk and reported that he was unwell. He was then taken by ambulance to Queen Mary Hospital for treatment. The police alleged that the driver in the accident was a man surnamed Lam (39 years old) who was drunk at the time and refused to provide a blood sample for an alcohol test after the accident. After a preliminary investigation, the police arrested him on suspicion of “refusal to provide a blood sample.”
The court mention of the case took place at Eastern Magistrates’ Courts this morning. Lam did not need to enter defence for now. The defence applied for an adjournment to obtain witness statements and medical reports. The magistrate adjourned the case until 11th December. The defendant Lam, despite reasonable excuses, was accused of failing to provide samples for a breathalyser test and refusing blood alcohol test. He was also charged with careless driving and all his vehicle windows have adhesive stickers with insufficient light transmittance. He was allowed to be free on bail of HK$5,000 today, during which time he must live at the registered address in Hung Hom.
