15th August 2022 – (Hong Kong) At around 12am today, when a police officer was patrolling Tai Mei Tuk on Ting Kok Road, he saw a man who was suspected of not wearing a mask properly, so he stopped and checked the man. During the period, the man reported feeling unwell and needed to call an ambulance to be sent to the hospital for treatment. It is expected that he was suddenly emotional while being sent to the hospital and spat at the police officer, who immediately subdued him at the scene. After preliminary investigation, the police arrested the man surnamed Lo (39 years old) on suspicion of “assaulting a police officer” and issued a fixed penalty notice to him for allegedly violating the Prevention and Control of Disease (Wearing of Masks) Regulation.
The case was handed over to the Tai Po District Criminal Investigation Team for follow-up.
