14th August 2019 – (Hong Kong) At around 9.10pm today, while some residents were performing ritual in conjunction with the Hungry Ghost Festival on Water Street in Sai Ying Pun by burning joss papers, an armed man in 40s-50s suddenly appeared and wielded a knife at them.

He then slit the tree and demanded everyone to leave before he subsequently fled the scene and ran into Tung Lee building nearby. The security guard of the building confirmed that he was living on the 1st floor.

Residents were aggrieved when police subsequently and they refused to enter the building to arrest the man. The police officers then used a handheld megaphone from their vehicle to warn the man. A ruckus then broke out between the residents and the police because police wanted to leave after accessing the environment. In the end, several police officers stayed back to ensure the safety of the residents.
