4th July 2022 – (Hong Kong) At about 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon (3rd), after a MTR train of the East Rail Line arrived at Platform 1 of Tai Wai Station, a staff member entered the first-class carriage to check tickets. During the period, a male passenger was suspected of failing to show a valid ticket, and he became angry and attacked the MTR staff. Upon hearing the news, other platform staff immediately rushed to the scene to provide support.
Police officers subsequently arrived at the scene for investigation. The suspect (46) was then arrested on suspicion of “assault causing actual bodily harm”. The 39-year-old MTR staff member who sustained elbow and knee injuries was then taken by ambulance to Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment, and the case was handed over to the Criminal Investigation Team of the Shatin Police District.
