28th January 2023 – (Hong Kong) A 32-second dash cam clip was circulated on social media depicting an incident that occurred at 12am yesterday opposite 576 Nathan Road, Mong Kok. The driver honked to remind the taxi in front which suddenly stopped but during the period, it was suspected that he offended a man and woman who were about to get into the taxi. The man in black misunderstood and thought that the driver used the car horn against him. The man without mask then walked towards to the driver and shouted, “X your mother, what are you doing? X your mother.” During this period, he threw his cap to the ground but his female companion immediately picked it up and attempted to stop him by pulling back into the taxi. He even proclaimed that he was a Sun Yee On triad member. He then went back to the taxi with his companion.
After investigation, the police arrested the 38-year-old local man surnamed Chou yesterday afternoon. He was suspected of “claiming to be a triad member”. He was detained for investigation. The police said they noticed an online video showing a local man suspected of arguing with a private car driver in the early hours of this morning over road usage issues, during which he claimed to be a member of a triad society. The Anti-Triad Action Team of the Yau Tsim Police District took over the investigation. After intelligence analysis of a large number of CCTV footages, the man involved in the case was identified.
