Man in 20s seriously injured in daylight knife attack in Yau Ma Tei


25th April 2024 – (Hong Kong) A serious assault occurred on Mau Lam Street near the Diocesan Girls’ School in Yau Ma Tei, Hong Kong, where a man in his sixties was attacked with a knife by a younger male, reportedly in his twenties. The incident took place at approximately 12.40pm local time on Wednesday, according to police reports.

Sources reveal that the victim, who frequently walked along this route, was suddenly assaulted by the young attacker who withdrew a knife from his backpack and slashed at the victim twice, once on each side. The victim sustained injuries to his hands and torso but remained conscious throughout the ordeal. Emergency services responded promptly, transporting him to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for medical treatment.

Following the attack, the assailant was seen escaping the scene in a private vehicle heading towards Nathan Road. The police have opened an investigation into the incident, treating it as a case of assault with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm.
