Man from Bangladesh dies while detained at Castle Bay Peak Immigration Centre in Tsing Yi

28th May 2023 – (Hong Kong) A 48-year-old man from Bangladesh, who was being held at the Castle Bay Peak Immigration Centre in Tsing Yi, passed away after losing consciousness inside the centre on 27th May. Immigration officials arranged for medical personnel to examine and provide immediate medical treatment for the man upon discovering him unconscious in his dormitory at around 7.20pm.

An ambulance was called to transport him to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead at around 8.32pm. Authorities are investigating the incident, and the Immigration Department has promised to cooperate fully with the investigation.
