Man found guilty of rioting and ordinary assault during protest at Wan Chai Police Headquarters last year


17th September 2020 – (Hong Kong) The Wan Chai Police Headquarters was surrounded by protesters on the evening of 26th June last year. A 26-year-old construction worker was suspected of participating in the riot and assaulted a plainclothes male police officer. The judgment was made in the District Court today.

After the trial, he was found guilty of rioting but not guilty of assault causing actual bodily harm. He was convicted of ordinary assault. The court is now adjourned for one hour. An intercession statement will be made later.
