29th July 2025 – (Hong Kong) A video shared on social media captured a man forcibly pulling a woman by her arm near Hang Tau Tsuen in Yuen Long. The incident, witnessed by a bystander who intervened and filmed the scene, has sparked public attention.
The video begins with the man, dressed in a light-coloured shirt, holding tightly onto the woman, who was wearing a checkered outfit. He drags her forward with such force that she nearly loses her balance. The bystander repeatedly shouts, “Do you need the police?” The woman, however, waves her hand and responds, “No need,” explaining that it was merely an argument. She later stated that she needed to retrieve some items before accompanying the man into a nearby village house.
In an interview with HK01, the bystander, Mr Wong, recounted the events that took place on Monday (28th July) at around 8am or 9am. He explained that he heard sharp slapping sounds while at a nearby car park and went to investigate. He saw the man repeatedly hitting the woman while pulling her along. Concerned for her safety, Mr Wong began recording the incident and followed the pair, briefly losing sight of them before catching up again.
Mr Wong revealed that before beginning to film, he had already witnessed the man striking the woman multiple times. When asked if he feared for his own safety, he responded, “There was no time to think about that. Every second counts, so I had to do what I could to stop it.”
As the man and woman entered the house, two other young individuals joined them. Mr Wong later spoke with one of the youths, who revealed that the four were family members. According to the youth, the altercation stemmed from a prior incident in which their mother had allegedly struck their father the day before, though the father had not retaliated. The situation escalated into a heated argument early that morning, which likely led to the events captured on video.
