25th March 2023 – (Qingdao) A photo circulating online shows a man in black trousers and a black shirt publicly defecating on a Metro train. He was facing the door while squatting, with his buttocks facing the car. A male passenger to his left appeared to be looking at him with disgust, while another male passenger to his right seemed to be vomiting on the spot.
The subway car’s seats are light yellow, indicating that it is on Qingdao Metro Line 1. In response to inquiries from passengers, Qingdao Metro staff said on Friday (24th) that they are currently investigating the incident.
Since 1st July of last year, the “Qingdao Metro Passenger Code of Conduct” has been in effect, which explicitly prohibits uncivilised behaviour that affects operational safety, public appearance, environmental hygiene, disturbs other passengers, and violates social morality.
