9th July 2024 – (Hong Kong) A man launched an assault on a police officer at Queen Elizabeth Hospital located at 30 Gascoigne Road in Yau Ma Tei. The incident took place at approximately 7.34pm when the officer was investigating a traffic accident. Suddenly, the assailant, overcome by intense emotions, violently attacked the male officer, causing injury to his hand. Prompt action by law enforcement led to the subsequent arrest of the suspect. Reports indicate that the assailant had earlier attempted to seize the service weapon of a traffic officer from the West Kowloon Traffic Division but was unsuccessful, ultimately subdued by the police.

Upon arriving at the scene, a large contingent of officers swiftly secured the area, converging on the hospital’s intensive care unit to conduct their investigation. Inside the ward, one of the individuals involved in the incident, wearing a plaster cast on his injured foot, cooperated with the authorities during the inquiry. Subsequently, the police detained the individual, who was then transported in a police vehicle to a detention facility, his head covered with a black cloth as a precautionary measure.
