21st November 2023 – (Hong Kong) A 45-year-old man was apprehended on Monday night on charges of assault and child abuse after allegedly attacking his wife and 14-year-old son during a heated argument over noise-related issues.
The incident was reported to the police by a 42-year-old woman from mainland China at approximately 9:06 p.m. on Monday. According to her statement, a quarrel erupted between her and her husband, identified as Mr. Ip, at their residence on Shing On Street in Sai Wan Ho. As the argument escalated, Ip physically assaulted his wife. Their teenage son, attempting to intervene and protect his mother, was also subjected to physical abuse by his father.
Upon receiving the report, the police promptly responded to the scene. Following a preliminary investigation, Mr. Ip was arrested on charges of common assault and mistreatment of a minor.
Both the woman and her son sustained injuries to their foreheads and were immediately transported to Eastern Hospital while remaining conscious.
