Man arrested for damaging computer monitor at Shek Lei HKJC betting branch after refund request denied

9th December 2023 – (Hong Kong) In a recent incident at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Off-course Betting Branch located at 153 Tai Loong Street, Shek Lei, a 35-year-old man surnamed Wong was arrested for allegedly causing damage to a computer monitor. The incident occurred at 12.43pm on December 9th, when emotions ran high during a heated argument between Wong and the staff due to an unresolved refund request. In a fit of anger, Wong picked up a stool and hurled it towards the computer monitor, resulting in its shattered destruction. The concerned staff immediately reported the incident, prompting law enforcement personnel to arrive at the scene and launch an investigation. Wong was subsequently apprehended on charges of criminal damage.

It has been reported that prior to the incident, Wong had purchased lottery tickets but was unsuccessful in obtaining a refund. The damaged computer monitor is estimated to be worth around HK$4,000.
