Man arrested after pointing middle finger at other road users and driving recklessly on Tolo Highway


7th December 2021 – (Hong Kong) A short video circulated on the Internet recently depicting a driver showing his middle finger while driving on Tolo Highway when it approached Kwong Fuk Estate in Tai Po. He then forcibly cut into the lanes of other vehicles at close range seriously endangering the safety of other road users. The police noticed the relevant video and conducted an in-depth investigation. The driver of the private car suspected to be involved in the case was subsequently identified and a 40-year-old man.

He was arrested for “dangerous driving” yesterday (6th). The police will continue to strengthen law enforcement to protect the safety of road users. The police reiterated that anyone who drives a car dangerously on the road is a crime. The maximum penalty is a fine of HK$25,000 and imprisonment for 3 years. If he is convicted for the first time, he can be suspended from driving for at least 6 months.
