18th October 2020 – (Hong Kong) At about midnight today (18th), a police car with an automatic license plate recognition system installed on the roof of the Police West Kowloon Transport Task Force was driving on Lai Chi Kok Road in Cheung Sha Wan near Cheung Sha Wan Police Station. A wanted registered owner of a private car was detected. The police officer then signalled the driver to stop and be investigated.

However, the driver sped off to escape instead. The police then pursued the vehicle until the suspect stopped near Kwai Chung section of Castle Peak Road about 3 kilometres away. He then fled on foot and police managed to subdue him moments later. The police searched the private car involved and found no illegal items. After a preliminary investigation, it was found that the driver surnamed Chan (36 years old) was not the owner of the car. He was arrested for dangerous driving. After investigation, Chan was released on bail pending further investigation and must report back to the police station in late November.
