Magistrate rules prima facie case against 6 defendants of dissolved “612 Humanitarian Relief Fund” established


27th September 2022 – (Hong Kong) The 5 trustees and secretary of the dissolved “612 Humanitarian Relief Fund”, including Hui Po-keung, a famous cultural studies scholar, retired cleric Cardinal Joseph Zen, veteran barrister Margaret Ng and gay pop singer Denise Ho each denied one count of failing to apply for registration or exemption from registration as a society within the specified time limit. 

The case resumed trial at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts today (27th), and the magistrate ruled that prima facie case against the 6 defendants has been established.

It was alleged that the between 16th July 2019 and 31st October 2021, the six defendants, acting as officers of the “612 Humanitarian Relief Fund” failed to comply with the regulations within the specified time limit.
