Macao braces for tropical cyclone as Signal No.1 raised at 5.30pm


30th May 2024 – (Macao) The Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) issued Signal No.1 at 5.30pm today, indicating the onset of a tropical cyclone approaching the region. The signal will remain in effect until early tomorrow morning as authorities closely monitor the situation.

At 5pm, the tropical disturbance, designated T.D., was situated approximately 550 kilometers south-southwest of Macao. Its current trajectory is directed towards the western coast of Guangdong province, posing potential weather disruptions for Macao.

As the cyclone approaches, the city is experiencing overcast skies with intermittent showers. Easterly winds are expected to reach force 3 to 4, adding to the atmospheric conditions influenced by the tropical system.
