23rd February 2024 – (Ottawa) Lynx Air, a budget-friendly carrier, has revealed its decision to seek creditor protection through the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta. The airline disclosed that its final flights are scheduled for this Sunday, marking a swift end to its operations.

The fledgeling airline, which took to the skies in April 2022, aimed to disrupt the Canadian low-cost flight sector but has been forced to ground its fleet permanently from 00:01 a.m. next Monday, as stated on its website.

Lynx Air’s journey has been abruptly halted by an insurmountable confluence of economic factors. “The compounding financial pressures of inflation, soaring fuel costs, unfavourable exchange rates, the burden of capital costs, increasing regulatory fees, and the intense competitive landscape within Canada’s aviation market have, regrettably, proven too formidable for our company to navigate,” expressed the airline in an official statement.
