2nd October 2023 – (Foshan) This year’s Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday combined to create an extended version of the Golden Week, prompting many mainland Chinese citizens to travel back home or go on vacations. As a result, numerous train stations became overcrowded, and severe traffic congestion occurred on highways across the country. Many drivers found themselves trapped on the highways for hours, leading to some resorting to relieving themselves on the spot due to urgent needs.
According to reports from mainland media, last Thursday (28th), on the Guangdong Foshan Nanhai District Dagang Interchange Highway, a man encountered a massive traffic jam while driving at night. Desperate to relieve himself, he hastily exited his vehicle and attempted to find a spot on the roadside. However, he mistakenly identified the guardrail of an elevated bridge as a partition and leapt over it.
In a video circulating online, the man can be seen immediately heading towards the roadside without any hesitation and jumping over the guardrail. In that split second, he realized his mistake and tried to grab onto the guardrail, but it was too late. Other drivers at the scene quickly noticed the situation, approached the guardrail, and alerted the authorities. The fall was from a height of approximately 5 to 6 meters.
Fortunately, according to informed sources, the man momentarily forgot that he was on an elevated bridge. After the incident, he was taken to the hospital and fortunately only suffered minor fractures, with no life-threatening injuries.
