2nd October 2026 – (Liuzhou) On the first day of the National Day holiday, a male passenger at Liuzhou station climbed onto the roof of train D1884 moments before departure and was struck by high‑voltage electricity from the overhead catenary. Officials said he was taken to hospital and, after emergency treatment, was reported to be in no immediate life‑threatening condition.

Footage from the scene appeared to show the man lying on the carriage roof as sparks flared, his body briefly convulsing and his right arm lifting, while the crackle of an electric discharge could be heard.

The train involved was D1884, scheduled to run from Liuzhou to Guangzhou South with a planned departure at 12.48pm. The incident caused a delay to the service.

According to a notice from Liuzhou Railway Station, at about 12.40pm the passenger climbed from the gangway between carriages onto the roof of the stationary D1884 service, where he was stunned by the electric current and fell back to the platform. The station activated its emergency plan immediately and contacted the 120 emergency centre to begin on‑site rescue.

Medical staff arrived at 12.56pm to administer first aid before transferring the man to hospital. After treatment, he was reported to be without immediate danger to life. The matter remains under investigation. Train D1884 resumed operation at 1.21pm.
