4th June 2023 – (Hong Kong) Plaza Hollywood in Diamond Hill was the site of a brutal double murder yesterday (2nd June), with 26-year-old Fong Hiu-tung, also known as Stephanie Fong, and 22-year-old Lau Kai-hei, also known as Wendy Lau, being brutally slain by an unknown assailant. The two women had met at a bar a few months ago and developed a close friendship over the past two months, eventually moving in together with a friend in a village house in the Lung Mei Village in Tai Po. Photos posted online show the two women smiling and posing together, indicating a close and happy relationship.

Residents of Lung Mei Village are now on edge following this shocking incident. They are still reeling from the discovery of the dismembered body of socialite Abby Choi in February, and this latest murder has only added to their fears. The fact that two sensational murders have taken place in the community in just four months has left many wondering if there is a serial killer on the loose.

According to locals, Fong and Lau had been living in the same area for a year, initially as roommates before their relationship became romantic and Lau moved in with Fong. While they were friendly with their neighbours, they rarely went out together as a couple and had not been seen returning home in the past two days.

Lau had previously lived with her mother, stepfather, and stepsister in a flat in King Lam Estate in Tseung Kwan O for around ten years. Neighbors remember her as a friendly and outgoing person who had grown up in the area. Although Lau had moved out in recent years, her family still resided in the same flat, and it is a shocking tragedy that she met her end in such a violent manner. Fong had visited Lau’s family home with her in the past, and the two had even stayed overnight on occasion.

The entrance to Lau’s former residence was adorned with candles in memory of the two women, as locals gathered to pay their respects and express their condolences.
