Lee Lung-kei’s fiancée, Chris Wang, sentenced to 25 months in prison for falsifying documents

19th June 2024 – (Hong Kong) Girlfriend Chris Wang, the 36-year-old fiancée of entertainer Lee Lung-kei, has been sentenced to 25 months in prison for her involvement in a scheme using fraudulent aviation college graduation certificates. Wang had applied for the Immigration Department’s Mainland Talents and Professionals Scheme while overstaying her visa in Hong Kong. During this period, she was employed by the Austin School in Kowloon Tong.

Wang faced seven charges, including overstaying her residency and using counterfeit documents. The case was presented in the Sha Tin Magistrates’ Court on the 19th, where Wang admitted guilt to five of the charges, while the remaining two were dropped by the prosecution. Acting Principal Magistrate Chan Wai-mun delivered the verdict and sentenced her to 25 months in prison.

During the court proceedings, Wang appeared with her hair tied in a ponytail, wearing a pink top and beige suit. She frequently glanced at Lee Lung-kei, who was also present in court, wearing a pink shirt. Both individuals were seen wiping away tears with tissues throughout the hearing. After the sentencing, Lee left the court without stopping to answer any questions from reporters. When asked if the sentence was within his expectations, Lee suddenly lowered his head and burst into tears, saying, “Can I please leave?” He also stated that he would not consider an appeal and expressed his determination to marry Wang once she is released, reassuring everyone, “Don’t worry, I will definitely marry her.”

As Chris Wang, was escorted by court officers into the defendant’s enclosure for questioning, she glanced towards Lee Lung-kei, triggering a sudden shift in his emotions. He visibly experienced a surge of intense feelings, exclaiming loudly on three occasions, wiping away tears with a tissue while tightly clenching his fists.

Wang confessed to five of the charges brought against her, leading to the judge’s final verdict of a 25-month prison sentence. Swiftly leaving the courtroom, Lee Lung-kei was approached by reporters inquiring about Chris’ family’s knowledge of her impending incarceration. He responded, “I don’t know.” When questioned about any concerns he may have regarding the worries of Chris’ family, he stated, “We will have to see when the time comes. I need to consider it first.” Asked about the possibility of an appeal, he replied, “It was unexpected. I have entrusted my lawyer to address it.” Pressed further on whether he would honour his commitment to marry Chris upon her release from prison, Lee Lung-kei responded with determination, stating, “I will certainly wait for her. I have discussed this with my lawyer, and I will wait for her.” As for continuing his visits to the Wong Tai Sin temple, he affirmed, “Absolutely!”
