7th September 2026 – (Hong Kong) Lantern Lomei, the Taiwanese night‑market braised‑food brand, will close its last Hong Kong shop at Shop 10, 4A/F, Langham Place, 8 Argyle Street, Mong Kok, with trading to end on 13th September after the operator said the lease could not be renewed. The brand entered the city in 2020 and, at its peak, ran five outlets across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, but has now confirmed the winding‑down of its local operations nearly six years on.

In a farewell message on its social media channels themed “school has started, we are graduating”, the team thanked loyal patrons and reflected on the Mong Kok store’s almost six‑year run and the community warmth reminiscent of Taipei’s night markets. Acknowledging the current trading environment, the statement said running a restaurant “has never been easy” and invited customers to visit in the final days to enjoy their preferred dishes and bid goodbye to staff.

According to earlier company updates, the network had been scaled back as the economy weakened: the Causeway Bay and Central branches closed in 2024, Kowloon Bay followed in 2025, and the Kwai Fong site ceased operations in May 2026, leaving only the Langham Place location. The business said there are no concrete plans to reopen in Hong Kong at present, though it hopes to meet customers again in the future.
