Kwun Tong MTR Line experiences technical issues resulting in train delays (Updated)

8th July 2019 – (Hong Kong) At 7.25pm Kwun Tong MTR Line towards Ho Man Tin experienced technical issues resulting in train service being delayed over 10 minutes at Choi Hung MTR Station. Platform 4 of Choi Hung MTR Station was cordoned off for MTR Staff to carry out repair works due to signal failure.

Passengers at Lok Fu Station, Wong Tai Sin Station and Diamond Hill Station also experienced similar delays.

MTR made announcement at 7pm today that due to signal failure at Choi Hung MTR Station, train service between Whampoa Station and Tiu Keng Leng Station will be delayed for at least 12-20 minutes.

Trains were unable to receive proceed signal near Choi Hung and required to be driven manually in speed lower than 22 kph due to fail-safety mechanism.

Engineers were inspecting signalling components nearby while station staff were using Intergraded Backup Panel to dispatch trains.
