Kris Wu’s associated companies revealed to owe over HK$4 million in taxes

    19th April 2024 – (Hong Kong) Chinese artist Kris Wu who is serving his prison sentence for charges of rape and involvement in group licentiousness, has found himself making headlines once again. Recent search trends have brought attention to the issue of Wu’s associated companies, which have been flagged for newly added tax delinquency notices. The outstanding taxes amount to approximately RMB 4.2774 million (around HK$4.62 million) and are categorized as corporate income tax.

    Previous reports indicated that several brands have sought legal actions against Kris Wu, involving the aforementioned companies. The former is a subsidiary of Wu’s talent agency, with Wu Lin, his cousin, serving as its legal representative, while the latter is fully owned by Kris Wu’s mother. These revelations have shed light on the intricate web of business ties surrounding the embattled artist.

    Amidst the controversy, netizens have taken to social media to express their thoughts. Some ridiculed Wu, who was previously rumoured to be assigned to work on a sewing machine in the prison, asking if he would be “sewing for a few more years.” Others sarcastically commented on his enduring popularity, saying, “Your star power remains undiminished” and “It’s been a while, but you’re still as talented as ever.”
