17th September 2026 – (Hong Kong) Eight people linked to the alleged JPEX virtual-asset trading platform fraud, including influencers Joseph Lam Chok and Chan Wing-yee, appeared yesterday at Eastern Magistrates’ Courts on charges of conspiracy to defraud, money laundering and fraudulently or recklessly inducing others to invest in virtual assets, with a magistrate adjourning the matter to 14th December.

The defendants named in court were former artiste Cheng Chun-hei, 31; Siu Wing-him, 28; Lam, 35; Chan Wing-yee, 38, also known as Chan Yee; shop assistant Au Cheuk-kei, 31; fitness coach Chiu King-yin, 25; Leung Yee-sheung, 31; and Ho Kei-man, 28. Together they are accused of conspiracy to defraud and of dealing with property they knew or believed represented proceeds of an indictable offence. The alleged sum tied to this batch of charges is about HK$110 million.

Cheng Chun-hei faces four separate money-laundering counts involving about HK$18.47 million. The eight are also charged under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Ordinance with fraudulently or recklessly inducing others to invest in virtual assets, the same promotional-and-investment strand that has kept the JPEX prosecution in the public eye since the platform collapsed into police inquiries.

In court, Lam was represented by Senior Counsel Cheng Huan. Cheng Chun-hei was represented by barrister Franco Kuan, Siu by Emily S.K. Cheung, and Chan, Leung and Ho by Jon K.H. Wong. Au appeared without a lawyer. Magistrate Tobias Cheng Yun-chung ordered the case adjourned to 14th December for a further mention.

Cheng Chun-hei was ordered to remain in custody. The other seven defendants were granted bail pending the next hearing. That split – one man still remanded and seven free under bail conditions – matches the pattern of earlier mentions in the same strand, with the former television artiste kept inside while Lam, Chan and five co-accused walk free until the December listing.
