Joint operation by Yau Tsim Mong law enforcement and Immigration Department leads to arrest of 24 individuals


22nd February 2024 – (Hong Kong) au Tsim Mong’s law enforcement agencies, in collaboration with the Immigration Department, launched a targeted operation yesterday (21st). The operation aimed to combat illegal immigration, illegal labor, and vice activities. Multiple locations within the district were subjected to surprise raids, resulting in the arrest of 24 individuals aged between 22 and 51.

Among those apprehended were 19 mainland Chinese women, an Indian man, a Liberian man, and an Indonesian man and woman. Notably, the arrested Indonesian woman was found in possession of a “recognizance paper” allowing her to stay in Hong Kong. The individuals have been detained on charges including “violation of stay conditions,” “overstaying,” “use of forged documents,” “possession of forged documents,” and “engaging in unauthorized employment in Hong Kong.” Some individuals will be handed over to the Immigration Department for further investigation.
