Join Pet Adoption Day at AIRSIDE on 8th and 9th June

7th June 2024 – (Hong Kong) Get ready for the exciting Pet Adoption Day, organised by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) in Hong Kong. Running for two days starting from tomorrow, this event with the theme “Let’s Go! The Pet Owner’s Journey” is open to the public, and admission is free.

Pet Adoption Day is a collaborative effort between the AFCD, the Hong Kong Society of Herpetology Foundation, the Hong Kong Rabbit Society, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and the Lifelong Animal Protection Charity. Its primary goal is to encourage individuals interested in owning pets to adopt cats, rabbits, and reptiles while promoting responsible pet ownership.

During the event, attendees can explore the adoption options for rabbits and reptiles or view photos and videos of cats available for adoption. In addition, there will be sharing sessions by animal welfare organizations, a virtual reality game, game booths, an interactive educational exhibition, a handicraft workshop, an instant photo booth, and an arm painting booth. Please note that dogs should not be brought to the event to ensure the well-being of small animals.

An AFCD spokesperson emphasised their support for pet adoption through animal welfare organisations, stating, “We always encourage potential pet owners to adopt animals from these organisations. Animals surrendered by owners or unclaimed animals received by the AFCD, which are assessed by veterinarians to have a gentle temperament and good health, are made available for adoption through our partner animal welfare organisations. Additionally, free desexing will be offered for cats, dogs, and rabbits adopted from these organisations.”

Pet Adoption Day will take place from 11am to 6pm at AIRSIDE in Kai Tak. For more information about the event, please refer to the provided Annex, visit the website, or contact 9375 3860 between 9am and 6pm, Monday through Saturday.
