Japan and Singapore passports remain the most powerful travel documents in the latest Henley Passport Index, HK ranks 18th


14th January 2022 – (Tokyo) “Henley & Partners” earlier announced the “Henley Passport Index” ranking of passports in the first quarter of this year.The firm’s Henley Passport Index, based on exclusive data provided by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), has been regularly monitoring the world’s most travel-friendly passports since 2006.

Among them, the Hong Kong SAR passport has 171 visa-free destinations. Although the number of visa-free destinations is the same as last year, it is still ranked 18th, one level higher than last year. As for the first place is still Japan and Singapore passports, respectively, citizens enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival treatment for 192 countries and regions.

The second most powerful passports are Germany and South Korea, both of which also have visa-free or visa-on-arrival treatment for 190 countries and regions. The third place is Finland, Italy, Luxembourg and Spain. All relevant passports have visa-free or visa-on-arrival treatment for 189 countries and regions. As for Chinese passport, it jumped to 64th, a new high since 2006. Macao SAR passports ranked 33rd with 144 visa-free or visa-on-arrival locations.
