3rd October 2023 – (Sochi) Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced on Monday that approximately 20 countries have expressed their interest in establishing partnerships with the BRICS group, which is gaining popularity in today’s multipolar world. Lavrov made these remarks during the 20th Annual Meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club, currently underway in the Russian city of Sochi.
Lavrov highlighted the shifting global landscape towards multipolarity, stating that countries are seeking reliable partners, and the increasing expansion of the BRICS serves as direct evidence of this trend. Currently comprising five member states, six additional countries have joined the association, and nearly 20 others are keen on establishing special relations with the BRICS group.
